Altimetry Sea Surface Height and derived variables global

Overview

E.U. Copernicus Marine Service  multimission gridded sea surface heights above ellipsoid and geoid and associated geostrophic velocities. The sea surface heights above ellipsoid are computed with respect to a twenty-year mean. The processing takes into account input data at level 2 of all missions available which are homogenized with respect to a reference mission (currently Jason-3). The multi-mission cross-calibration process removes any residual orbit error, or long wavelength error (LWE), as well as large scale biases and discrepancies between various data flows. The missions are finally merged with an optimal interpolation to take into account all the altimetric missions measurements between [D-6 weeks, D+3 days] at the date D of the grids.

Use : Multi-mission gridded products are devoted to scientific applications: study of ocean variability (mesoscale circulation, seasonal variation, El Niño…), general circulation (ocean gyres, …), including operational oceanography (near-real time products).
